Serum Peroxiredoxin3 for the Early Diagnosis and Prognosis of HCC in Chinese Patients

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the sixth most common malignant tumor, and its incidence has been increasing worldwide (Jemal et al., 2011). HCC, like other cancers, involves aberrant changes in multiple molecular pathways and genetic as well as epigenetic factors, which consequently lead to the malignant transformation and progression of HCC (Breuhahn et al., 2011; Marquardt et al., 2012). Despite advances in chemotherapy, surgical management, and the clinical implementation of numerous therapeutic strategies, the mortality rates of patients with HCC remain very high (up to 94%), making HCC the third most common cause of cancer-related death.
